About the Research
This study focuses on pharmacogenomics, which investigates how an individual’s genetic makeup influences their response to drugs. The primary objective is to advance personalized medicine by tailoring drug therapies based on genetic variability, improving treatment efficacy, and reducing adverse drug reactions.
Research Team & Approval
This study is led by Professor Doreen Tan and Dr Rebecca Tay, Principal Investigators, alongside a team of experts from the National University of Singapore (NUS). The research has been reviewed and approved by Global Precision Diagnostics and National University of Singapore to ensure compliance with all ethical and safety guidelines.
Study Mechanism & Process
Individuals who purchase or enroll in the pharmacogenomics test kit will have the option to participate in the ATCC Research Study. Participants who opt in will receive the first report update free of charge (FOC) with ATCC membership and have the option for future report updates at a minimal cost.
The research process involves the following steps:
- Enrolment & Consent – Participants will be briefed about the study information and must provide informed consent.
- Genetic Sample Collection – Participants will submit a buccal swab or blood sample for analysis.
- Data Analysis & Report Generation – The genetic sample will be analyzed to access drug response based on individual genetic makeup.
- FOC Report Update – Participants who opt into ATCC will receive their first free-of-charge report update, incorporating the latest research insights.
- Future Report Updates – Participants will have the option to receive future updates at a minimal cost, benefiting from ongoing advancements in pharmacogenomics research.
All samples collected will be deidentified and stored indefinitely as anonymous specimens for research purposes, ensuring strict confidentiality and privacy. Each sample is assigned an identification specimen number, with no personally identifiable information attached.
We strongly reassure participants that this study will never involve any form of human cloning, now or at any point in the future. Malaysia strictly prohibits human cloning, and ATCC fully adheres to this regulation. While research directions can evolve, the core focus of pharmacogenomics remains firmly centered on drug response and genetic variability, with no deviation into cloning or related activities.

Opting Out
Participation in this research study is entirely voluntary. You may choose not to participate, and there will be no penalties or consequences. However, please note that by not participating in this research, you will not be eligible for the first-round free-of-charge (FOC) report update offered through ATCC membership.

All participant information will be kept strictly confidential and used solely for research purposes. This study adheres to PharmGKB regulations to ensure the highest standards of privacy and ethical conduct.
